Seattle Seahawks Emerge As 1 Top Potential Najee Harris Trade Destination

The Seattle Seahawks have made a lot of offseason changes this year, but there are still some question marks about just how good they can be in 2024. Geno Smith’s future seems a bit murky, but the talent is there to compete in the NFC despite that fact.

New head coach Mike Macdonald is hoping to keep up the competitive traditions of former coach Pete Carroll. With that in mind, the Seahawks may not be done making moves this offseason if an opportunity to improve the roster even more emerges.

One intriguing name to watch could be Pittsburgh Steelers running back Najee Harris. Even though the Seahawks already have Kenneth Walker III, they could be in the market to former a dual-threat backfield.

Seattle Seahawks Emerge As A Top Suitor For Najee Harris

In a recent article by CBS Sports, they took a look at the potential suitors that could trade for Harris if the Steelers end up trading him. The Seattle Seahawks were included on that list.

“Kenneth Walker III has been great, but he’s also battled injuries each of his first two seasons. Adding Harris would help keep him fresh. In return, the Steelers could get Tyler Lockett, an established veteran who should still have some gas left in the tank. Seattle has the depth at wideout to make this happen.”

The running back market has shifted in recent years. Teams do not trust that running backs can produce at a high level for a long period of time. Part of the issues there have to do with the fact that running backs are asked to do far too much and wear and tear becomes a major issue.

As the Seattle Seahawks have already seen with Walker, injuries are always present at the running back position. Even if Walker stays healthy, a second running back like Harris to take some of the load off would be a great move to make.

During the 2023 season with the Steelers, Harris ended up carrying the football 255 times for 1,035 yards and eight touchdowns. He also caught 29 passes for 170 yards.

Harris could come in and provide the Seahawks with a lethal one-two punch in the backfield. Both players could alternate time on the field and keep each other healthy and rested. That could load up the Seattle Seahawks’ offensive potential even more.

Depending on the price tag, the Seahawks should absolutely have interest in trading for Najee Harris. He would provide another element to the offense and would be a positive impact on Walker. It’s a win-win situation, assuming they don’t have to pay dearly to make it happen.
